founding affiliate partner, Simply Connect, launches crowd-funding campaign
Simply Connect are proud to announce our crowd-funding campaign, and invite you to invest! Simply Connect is steadily making progress in developing its service offer as well as engaging partners, communities, authorities, investors and the mobility community across the UK and more widely in Europe and the rest of the world.
The service aims to revolutionise community mobility and offer a real challenge to the gap in service provision that exists between local walking and cycling, “classic” public transport – whether it be local buses, light or heavy rail, and the choice that many travellers make to otherwise use their private car as the only means of timely and effective mobility.
The service will use small vehicles to gather and deliver local travel demand from near to people’s homes or destinations. Rather than compete with other public transport options, Simply Connect will work with these existing services to feed demand to core routes, fill in gaps in service provision, or offer out of hours service. While a technology system will underpin the service, Simply Connect is much more than another App! The scheme will form the “community” that will manage and operate the local service and operate through a Community Interest Company in the local area. Individuals as well as businesses and public bodies will be able to directly be part of the service and manage its outcomes. Learnings and data will be open, for more information click here.
For this reason Simply Connect is proud to be a founding partner of the Travelspirit Foundation, and are wearing our affiliation on our sleeve! We are working to make Simply Connect a key demonstration project for Travelspirit which aims to redefine Mobility as a Service and make “open and equitable access” a core part of the wider eco-system. We are also supportive of Travelspirit’s work with the ConcentriCity Alliance – a new, post-Brexit, “Northern Powerhouse” initiative that has in its target making a reality UITP’s vision for a future where shared, flexible, on-demand, autonomous vehicles support and strengthen the world’s fixed route public transport networks. Simply Connect will work with the ConcentriCity Alliance to bring learnings from autonomy to public transport and Simply Connect’s vision for small vehicle transport as part of a wider public transport offer.
Simply Connect continues to develop our first user case in Greater Manchester for launch in spring 2017, as well as developing trials elsewhere in England for early 2017 testing and partnering in funding bids and development throughout the mobility industry in the UK and more widely. We also seek early venture funding to support our activities and grow the business.
